Summer Skincare Must Haves // vanityandvodka

Getting my body ‘summer ready’ is something I dread- I’m an incredibly lazy person so spending time moisturising, exfoliating, self-tanning etc. is just so much effort. So I’ve narrowed down my after shower beauty routine to only two products- Dove Summer Glow and the Body Shop Honey Bronze Dry Oil.  These are both super affordable products and do a really great job.  The Dove Summer Glow is basically a body lotion with a small amount of tanner, along with a little bit of shimmer, that gives you such a lovely, natural, glowy tan.  The lotion itself isn’t sticky or greasy, it sinks in really nicely and I pop this on every few days just to maintain a nice colour.

Along with this I pop on The Body Shop Honey Bronze, this is another product that helps give you a bronzey glow, again with a bit of shimmer, this apparently also helps with getting you tanned if you’re in the sun (which would make sense seeing as it’s an oil).  It’s not too greasy, sinks into the skin really quickly and has a lovely summary scent.

I’m a big, big fan of my moisturising face mists.  The Coast to Coast Skin Radiance Aqua Mist has been in my collection for around a year, I took this with me when I flew over to Florida and it was a god send.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Spray is a newer addition to my collection but I’ve already fallen in love with it.  It does very similar things to the Coast to Coast spray but is a lot more accessible here in the UK.  It also has a lovely, floral scent, which normally I wouldn’t be too keen on but for some reason it works.

My absolute favourite sunscreen is the Garnier Ambre Solaire Golden Protect lotion, for some reason it’s very difficult to get hold of so I have a feeling it’s been discontinued (cry) but it has such a gorgeous scent and helps enhance your tan when in the sun (it also may have some shimmer in- theme here?).

If you’re like me, at the end of the day look like a lobster (damn you girls who tan effortlessly), I need some sub burn relief and my two favourite products for that are The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Sorbet and the Banana Boat Aloe Gel.

I remember the first time I tried the Body Sorbet last year and thought I would hate it, I don’t like minty scents but this is incredible.  I love this scent, and it has a gel like consistency which makes it so, so refreshing when applied to the skin.  This is probably my favourite product I’ve ever tried from the Body Shop, there’s nothing I can fault, definitely worth trying!

If you’re not keen on a minty/fresh scent (just try it, trust me), another option is a Aloe Gel, these are known for helping with sunburn and it’s super affordable.  It really does feel pretty good on hot, burnt skin.

My last essential would be the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray, this is a GOD SEND for the hot weather.  I don’t deal with with hot, sticky weather- you’ll probably find me stripped down and sitting in front of a fan.  But this is a lovely, refreshing spray you can use all over your body when you start feeling a little bit sweaty and sticky.

So those are my absolute musts for summer time, let me know what you can’t live without!

  • I’ve been good at remembering to scrub my body; especially my arms and legs! I’ve been using the Zoella Scrubbing Me Softly to get rid of my dry skin 🙂 x
