Disappointing Products- Make Up #1

You know those products that get a lot of hype and you try them and they’re really just meh? I’ve picked out a few bits from my make up collection I just wasn’t 100% happy with.  This doesn’t mean I have anything against the brand and some of these products may have worked perfectly for you- if you think I’m using any of the products wrong please let me know in the comments!

I’ll start with some eye shadows from Bourjois.  I feel like Bourjois are one of the pricer drugstore brands- I mean if you were on a budget you wouldn’t head straight for the Bourjois stuff if you get me.  I haven’t tried an awful lot of their products but things like the Rouge Edition Liquid Lipsticks and the Chocolate Bronzer (does anyone know the actual name for that?) were pretty awesome, so I was expecting the same quality from these single eye shadows, but it just didn’t happen.  When I saw this gorgeous shimmery purple in store I had to pick it up, but once I got it home and used it on my eyes I was really disappointed- the pigment isn’t that great, they take a lot of work to blend and the colour just didn’t last on me throughout the day.

For the price of these you could get 2x Rimmel, MUA, MUG or Make Up Revolution shadows, which I think are 100x better than these.

Next is the L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream- this is so bad it’s pretty funny.  I don’t know why I didn’t swatch this in store if I’m honest but I had a bit of a shock when I got home (you live you learn)…  The product itself comes out colourless, it’s like a greyish kinda colour with little dark grey dots- these are colour pigments.  The colour pigments are meant to be able to adapt to your skin tone and match perfectly on your skin.  This did not happen.  What I got? Orange.  It was so unlike my skin it was a little bit funny.

These are the Body Shop Lipsticks- I picked two of these up in the boxing day sales and they’re just really not that great.  There is little pigmentation, so little in fact the two colours I got look exactly the same on my lips.  They’re not meant to be sheer- they are meant to be just normal lippies so I don’t know if it’s the shades I got or are these just kinda crappy lipsticks?  As well as the pigmentation, the lasting power isn’t all that great and they’re just very mediocre.  Again for the price you’re better off going to MUA or Rimmel.

I’ve heard plenty of people go on about the Rimmel Pencil Eye Liners but again, meh.  They were pretty good in terms of pigmentation but I couldn’t feel the creamyness everyone else seems to.  They don’t last more than a few hours on my eyes and seem to smudge really easily so I’ve just never been keen on them.  In all fairness I’m not a big pencil liner type of gal but I do love the Urban Decay and NYX pencil liners.

This is a product I really do not understand the hype for.  It’s an okay under-eye concealer and maybe I’m using it wrong but I just really haven’t been that impressed with it.  The tone of the product doesn’t look quite right on my skin and I’m normally a fan of under-eye concealers that have a bit of highlight- where as this one doesn’t.

The Clinique Chubby Sticks are something everyone seems to love apart from me.  I don’t know if it’s the shade I’m not keen on or the product itself, but I just don’t see the amazing product everyone else sees- I mean it is basically a tinted lip balm right?  This shade is very sheer and hardly visible on the lips, it doesn’t seem to last me longer than 10 minutes and you can get something so similar for half the price.  It’s an okay lip balm but I’d really rather go with an EOS or Nivea Lip Balm.

If I’m 100% honest I think what I hated about this product was the shade.  I picked up a Baby Lips in Pink Punch and it really just looked horrendous.  I didn’t understand why at the time because I’ve never really had a problem with pink lip products but this one was a huuuge no no.  Since that time I’ve picked up a few more shades and like them a little better, they’re good for everyday use but you do have to keep applying it throughout the day as they don’t seem to last more than 30 minutes.

Please do let me know if you’ve had any of the same problems with these products or if I’ve been using them totally wrong!
