Alchemist Palette Review and First Impressions

Alchemist Palette Review

While placing a cheeky order at Sephora (ignoring all the complaints from my bank account), I spotted this in the ‘New In’ section and couldn’t resist adding it to my basket, I’m a sucker for a palette and one containing highlights? I had no chance.

The Alchemist palette from Kat Von D boasts four holographic shades for your eyes, face or lips, the palette retails at $32.00 (about £25) on Sephora.

When this first arrived I was actually really surprised by the size, for some reason I thought the palette would be bigger, the pans are more the size of eyeshadows rather than typical highlight pans.

Each shade looks white but underneath certain lights, you start to see more colours coming into play.  I wouldn’t describe these as holographic but more duo-chrome, for example, the shade ‘pink opal’ has a gorgeous pink shimmer which you can see in certain lights and the other shades all have the same effect.

This was only the 2nd product I’d ever tried from the brand so I was unsure what to expect but I did have quite high expectations with the general hype of Kat Von D products in the beauty world, that, and the fact this thing seemed to constantly be sold out!

The powders swatch beautifully, they feel very soft on the touch and blend out effortlessly on the skin, the colours are bright yet subtle when on the skin, I haven’t tried these on my eyes or lips yet but I imagine the shades would work really well, especially as eye shadows.

Have you tried this palette?  What did you think of it?
