Dream Velvet Foundation by Maybelline Review

In a three for two buy a few weeks ago I decided to give the Dream Velvet foundation a go.  I’d never been super impressed with Maybelline foundations- mainly because I’ve always felt like they were too dark for me (and for some reason never noticed they have a ‘Natural’ shade which is lighter than ‘Ivory’ which is what I normally get- is this new or am I just an idiot?), but generally their foundations don’t tend to sit well on my skin or last brilliantly throughout the day so I wasn’t expecting much from this.

The foundation was way thicker than I thought it would be, definitely more of a cream than a liquid if that makes sense.  First off- shade was spot on for me- and I am very very pale.  It applied really nicely to the face and didn’t stick to any dry patches- which is what I expected from a Maybelline matte foundation (Dream Matte Mousse anyone?..).

It didn’t have as much coverage as maybe I’d have liked but it is build-able and with one/two coats you’ve already got a medium coverage which evens out skin tone and does cover some naughty bits though I’d probably use a concealer on top.

The foundation felt very light on the skin and I forgot I was wearing it throughout the day, it lasted well on my skin (without a primer) and I think this would last even better with my NYX setting spray.

I’d definitely repurchase this and for the price think its a fab foundation.

Have you tried it?
